The greener side of a house for sale in Brixton

A new house for sale in Brixton is likely to have one
significant green credential on its side for eco-conscious
buyers.
That is because new figures from the Office for National Statistics
show that property in the capital is more likely than anywhere else
in the UK to be constructed on previously developed land.
Rather than being built on greenfield land, a new house for sale in London in 95 per cent of cases is
built on a brownfield site.
This includes existing properties that have been converted into
dwellings, as well as those constructed from scratch - and is
likely to make a new house for sale in Brixton similarly eco-friendly.
While the already well developed capital may seem like a logical
place for the highest proportion of property to be built on
brownfield sites, the nearby East of England region is at the other
end of the scale.
Almost a third (32 per cent) of dwellings in the region are built
on greenfield sites, which could make London a more eco-conscious
place to buy for environmentally aware househunters.
Some 80 per cent of all new dwellings nationwide are now built on
previously developed land, up from a figure of 76-77 per cent in
2005-07.
